February Beauty Wishlist

Yeah, yeah, February is the month of love or whatever. Aren’t my little pink hearts enough? This post will not be filled with products I just can’t wait to buy and try out on Valentine’s day because, well, eff that. Instead this post is all about getting ready for summer, and for summer I am loving products in shades of peach and coral.
February Beauty Wishlist
I’ve included a few peachy coral beauties from NARSFresh, and Deborah Lippmann, and Benefit CosmeticsI’m looking forward to creating a look with these that I’m predicting will be my go to summer look this year. Of course I can’t go piling orange on my face if it’s red, which mine usually is, so I’m set on finding the best color correcting primer out there. I’ve had success with Smashbox’s Photo Finish, but I really like the way “amazonian clay” sounds and Tarte’s CC primer has great reviews, so I am dying to try it!  After reading this post on Lauren Conrad’s blog The Beauty Department, I’ve started using baby oil before and after I shower. It is working wonderfully so I think I’m ready to upgrade to something a little more luxe like L’Occitane’s Almond Supple Skin Oil. And finally, on a note completely unrelated note, I need like ten of these UNII Palettes to put together some eyeshadows and blushes from various palettes I have lying around. And even though I’m going to be enjoying being single bitter this Valentine’s Day, I may give out some beauty suggestions! We’ll have to wait and see.

Benefit Haul

I have always loved Benefit Cosmetics: the beautiful colors, the pretty packaging, the awesome brow bar, and my girl Tia who kicks ass at waxing brows. The Benefit counter at the Belk in my local mall was having an event. You know, the kind where they do your makeup, you spend a bunch of money, and they give you a travel bag with some samples. Totally worth it.  Anyway, below is everything I ended up with. The sun beam, benetint, It’s Potetent! eye cream, and Total Moisture moisturizer were all small samples that came with my gift. (My roommate also got chachatint *scowls.*)

My thoughts? The lollitint is a very pretty purple, and happens to be Pantone’s color of the year, so I feel good about getting it. The longwear powder shadow goes on smooth and light, you have to use a lot if you want it to really show. These two colors (milk it! and bingo!)are amazing! I’ll try to show you guys a look with them later… think T-Swift at the Grammys. As I’ve mentioned before, I have huge pores and my nose tends to get pretty oily throughout the day. The POREfessional: agent zero shine fixes that by setting my makeup and mattifying my face. The moisturizer was nice as far as moisturizers go. I didn’t really notice a difference with the eye cream, but that could be because I only have a tiny tiny sample of it. I can’t wait to use the sun beam to create some “it’s freaking cold out here I am ready for summer” looks, and I’m pretty sure I’ll wear the benetint on my cheeks and lips while I’m at home drinking wine on Valentine’s day.  Look out for that post, it should be a good one.

Best Beauty Looks of the Golden Globes

It wasn’t hard to narrow down my favorite beauty looks from Sunday night’s Golden Globes, because honestly, a lot of them sucked. I mean, I love JLawr as much as the next girl but her wtf was that berry colored lip gloss and white frosted eyeshadow? The 90s called and high school winter formal wants its look back. Amidst all the “what the hell were they thinking?!” there were some shining moments when certain celebrities makeup artists nailed it. Click through the slideshow below to see my favorite looks of the night.

Spring Trend: White Eyeliner

Guys, white eyeliner is everything. I know I am a little late talking about this, but holy titties I am excited for this Spring 2014 trend. I went out and bought NYX Cosmetics’ Slide on Pencil in ‘Pure White’ from Target yesterday and started trying out some looks. I know it isn’t technically spring yet, but I might start wearing this from now on…like until I die.

January Wish List

January Wish List
My lips are dry, my hands are dry…you don’t even want to hear about my feet. I feel like an alligator. You know, if alligators could walk, talk, and bitch about their dry skin. It finally got below freezing here in North Carolina, and the frigid temp has completely taken over my January beauty wish list. It is full of creams and things to combat my dryness and hopefully make me sound a little less bitchy during my next post. I am super excited to try out a mod look early this year, so I added a white eye pencil and lip products in pink and orange hues. Let me know what you think and shop the post below!

Clarisonic Mia 2 Review

I’m going to go ahead and say it because I know we all are thinking it. I’m trying to find some sexy ass bearded dude to make out with when the ball drops this NYE. Better do something about my grossly enlarged pores now, right? Good thing I have 3 days. I have really good skin, and I’m not trying to sound like a pompous ass, but taking Accutane at the age of 10 (give or take) works wonders for your skin. The only struggle I’ve really had over the years is my huge pores – like seriously you can see the dirt in them – sometimes oily skin, and a little bit of stress acne.  I’ve tried creams, serums, face washes, you name it, and I have not been overly satisfied with any of it. Luckily my wonderful mom got me the Clarisonic Deep Pore Detoxifying Solution for Christmas this year. It comes with the MIA 2 Clarisonic, the deep pore brush head, and the detoxifying cleanser and mask. I’ve used it a few times and I already love it!

I have no problem hastily posting a review, I doubt my feelings will change. First of all it is very simple to use, just make sure you follow the directions and charge it for 24 hours before you use it. The automatic time lets you know when to move to a different zone on your face – it is foolproof. Second, the brush feels great and not like it is rubbing my skin off my face. Third, you can actually see a difference the first time you use it. My face feels smooth and my pores look better already. I cannot wait to see how my skin looks after a month.

Ps. I went to Target today and picked up this sweet Sonia Kashuk case to store my MIA 2 in. It hold fits the MIA 2 in the plastic case Clarisonic gives you, the cleanser, and the mask in the bottom, and there is a pocket for the charger in the top. Clarisonic has carrying cases available on their website, but I think this one is perfect!

NYE Nails

unnamed

Until about 3 hours ago I was dead set on staying in for New Years Eve. I was going to have a relaxing night catching up on missed TV shows and drinking $7 peach champagne on my couch with my dog. Then I realized I am 22, and then the spirit of Taylor Swift flew in me and I decided that I will be joining my friends downtown. In preparation I have stashed all my cash away so I will have it NYE night, and I’ve painted my nails. I am doing great. I always screw up my nails, but this time I liked how it turned out. So I’ll share.

I started with Essie’s First Base Coat, then followed it with a coat of Essie’s Jazzy Jubilant. Being the lazy person I am, I was planning on being done at that, but my mom and I went to Target earlier today and she got Essie’s Peak of Chic, so I threw that on top. I liked it but it wasn’t quite enough glitter, so I added another coat of Jazzy Jubilant and finished it off with Essie’s No Chips Ahead. Here are the results:

Dear Essie, if you ever need to hire someone to name nail polishes, call me!
